| Our trips begin at Morrison's Rogue River
Lodge, about 10 miles before the "Wild and Scenic" section of the Rogue, and
from this point another 44 miles to Foster Bar, your final destination. Your raft journey
will take you through the most beautiful and scenic part of the Rogue River, where you
will enjoy nature's beauty along the way. You will raft through dramatic canyons and dense
forests, having opportunities to experience the marvels of the abundant wildlife. Deer are
very common and quite tame. Black bear, raccoon, otter and mink are often sighted. And
from above you will see great blue herons, osprey and quite possibly a bald eagle diving
into the water capturing a fish. "Been on quite a few vacations, this
one is in the top few. Thanks so much"!
(Susan Willis, Deerfield, Illinois)
Your rafting journey will end at Foster Bar, where we will pick you
up and take you back to Morrison's Rogue River Lodge. Transportation back at trip's end is
included in your trip price, or you could have your vehicle shuttled to Foster Bar at an
additional charge.
Safety
Safety is our number one priority. Our guides are highly skilled
oarsmen with a great respect for the river and its elements. Each is thoroughly trained in
river safety and keeps a sharp eye out to ensure that all passengers are enjoying their
trip in a safe manner. We have an extraordinary safety record; we have never had a boating
accident in the 38 years we have been outfitting. We work very hard to maintain that
safety record with ongoing training and developing better and safer ways to do things.
"I viewed this whole
experience very reluctantly before coming, and when I left I didn't want to leave and can
hardly wait to return".
(Vicki Joy Cook, Scottsdale, Arizona)

"Your guides are a terrific group. While on the river, they
possessed a sense of adventure and fun while always keeping safety in mind. In camp,
they were attentive to everyone's food and housing needs before their own. They are
truly a fun-loving, outgoing group of guys with a touch of class mixed in - a perfect
combination".
(Kristan Dalton, Yorba Linda, California) |
Quality
We use top of the line equipment, including Rogue Inflatable oar rafts
17 1/2 ft. and Avon 16 ft. paddle boats, life vests, wet suits (when needed) and splash
jackets. If you are camping with us we provide high quality sleeping bags, pads and tents.
Once you arrive at our facility at Morrison's Rogue River Lodge you will see that quality
is very high on our list. Our facilities as well as equipment are kept in tiptop shape.
That goes for everything we use from the rafting equipment to the vehicles we use.
"Your
organization and handling of all details was excellent, as were the equipment and
accommodations. We particularly would like to commend your five guides who were
outstanding. They were not only very professionally skilled, but extremely accommodating
and personable. They were a team that worked extremely hard, but at the same time
displayed a casual enjoyable demeanor at all times. We were convinced they were enjoying
the time with us as much as we were with them. It was a pleasure".

you will stay in a quaint wilderness lodge on the river. After a rigorous day of rafting

"The lodges were great. It was so wonderful to have a hot shower
after a day on the river and I loved having a nice comfy bed at night instead of a
sleeping bag on the ground. And the food was delicious."
(Shelby Crowe, Riverside, California)
Camp Trips
Camping Under the Stars
 |
|
Camping on the Rogue is a special experience. After the
day of rafting you have time to enjoy the wilderness around camp while guides prepare an
incredible meal using traditional Dutch ovens and open fire barbecue. Dinners around the
campfire are extraordinary. And in the morning, you'll get your wake up call with a
steaming cup of coffee served while you are still comfy in you sleeping bag. A full
country breakfast will start you off for another day on the river. |
| Our 4-day camp trip is designed with
4 days on the river and 3 nights camping along the river. Meals from first day lunch
through last day lunch are included. Rogue River Raft Trips
provides sleeping bags and pads at no additional cost. Tents are available, although
most choose to sleep under the stars. |
|
 |
"On our trip we were treated like
royalty. Our meals were so great. Imagine, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and
gravy on our third night. And who would expect hot berry cobbler ala mode, and
strawberry shortcake on a camping trip". (Lois Smith, Healdsburg, California)
Camp/Lodge Trips
Combining the Thrill of Camping and the Luxury of a Wilderness
Lodge
Just in case some in the family wish to camp out and others want to stay in the lodges,
this is the perfect compromise. Our 3-day Camp/Lodge trip is designed with the first night
spent camping along the river and the second night at a wilderness lodge. The best of both
worlds.
 |
|
"My
husband and kids wanted to camp, but I wanted to stay in the lodges. The Camp/Lodge
trip was great, we all got what we wanted. As it turned out I loved the
camping as much as the lodge and my husband and kids loved the lodge as much as
camping".
(Jean Thorbough, Portland, Oregon) |
"Two years in a row we have had a
spectacular time with you, both at the Lodge and on the River. Your Guides are terrific
and the Rogue is truly paradise. Five additional pounds attest to delicious food."
(Steve and Nita Moore, Lake Oswego, Oregon) |
Raft Types
Different Strokes for Different Folks
We offer 3 different rafting experiences from the casual laid-back to the rigorous. Our
guests have an opportunity to choose which option suits them.
Oar Boats
The oar boat offers an exciting yet stable ride. The boat is equipped with a full frame
that has bench style seats. Your guide rows the boat with long wooden oars and sits behind
the two bench seats. Guests sit back and enjoy the ride and the scenery while the guide
does all the work. Oar boats carry three to five passengers, plus one guide. |
|
 |
 |
|
Paddle Boats
Paddle boats offer a chance to participate in a thrilling ride. Each passenger in the boat
paddles. We use an oar assisted paddle design, which means the guide sits at the back of
the boat on a little frame and actually has oars. This design gives the guide more control
for the times when they need it in the bigger rapids. It also provides a very safe
environment to try out paddling. Paddle boats typically carry six passengers who
cooperatively paddle the boat down the river, plus one guide with oars. |
Inflatable Kayaks
We bring inflatable kayaks along on all of our trips. These single seated kayaks allow you
to get one-on-one with the whitewater. Guests can easily navigate these small, agile boats
through gentle to moderate whitewater, even if you have never kayaked before. Although we
don't allow guests to take them through the most dangerous rapids, you will have plenty of
opportunity to have fun and get wet. |

Our Guides
We make a great deal of effort to find, train and keep great guides and
we feel our guides are the best on the Rogue River. We have always fostered the idea that
it takes a very special kind of person to become a guide with Rogue River Raft Trips, Inc.
Not only do they need to be very skilled in oarsmanship and river knowledge and highly
responsible, but also they need to be all-around great people with a high fun quotient. We
have been very lucky to have great people with us over the years. When they move on to do
different things we always miss them. Guests often ask for their favorite guides, but are
never disappointed with the new faces that join our crew.
Our guides have great boating skills and they are fun, interesting
and able to make the trip fantastic for each guest. Each is thoroughly trained in river
safety and keep a sharp eye out to ensure that all passengers are enjoying their trip in a
safe manner.
"The Rogue
River is a special place, and our guide made it especially enjoyable with his smile,
skill, and patience. He answered all our questions like he'd never heard those
questions 1,000 times before; he seemed to enjoy the trip as much as we did".
(John, Carol, Kelty, Evan, Jack & Ruth Howard, West Linn, Oregon)
"All the guides worked so well together and they were all so
polite and so pleasant. We want to congratulate you for such a nice complement of
employees".
(Ty Messenger, LaConner, WA)
"Awesome Guides, they were great!! Our family had a
wonderful time".
(Ron Crasilneck, Eugene, Oregon)
Kids
| Our trips make great family vacations. Children get an
incredible introduction to the outdoors that is fun and exciting. Families have a chance
to share experiences and connect with their children in a very special way. We offer the
fun of discovering the outdoors together while our experienced guides take care of all the
details. Whether you have a single child or a bunch of children, you and they will have an
unforgettable experience. |
 |
 |
|
"Our
guide was great with our three children. He helped them build confidence and was
always teaching them along the way about the various trees and animals. The kids
loved it!"
(Patty, Max, Andy, Chris & Fred Kattner) |
We take children 6 years and up on
our trips. All children must be accompanied by an adult. |
|
 |
"Words cannot describe the great time we had on our 3-day raft
trip with our family. We went in 1987 and wanted to return with our entire family,
grandchildren and all. Your crew were all so nice and patient with the
grandchildren. We appreciate the extra time and extra playfulness they used with the
children".
(Bryant & Trudie Fishback, Walnut Creek, California)
Seniors
Not only are our trips great for the young folks, but they are great
for the young at heart too. Our 3-day Lodge trips offer a wonderful way to take a
wilderness adventure without having to rough-it. And if sleeping on the ground has
kept you from venturing out into a wilderness area this is the time to reconsider.
Sit back and enjoy a beautiful day on the river and then take it easy at the wilderness
lodges in the evenings. We have taken as many grandparents and seniors as any other
age group.
 |
|
"Although our over-age group of four needed extra help
& attention, it was given so graciously that our trip was a most special one and lots
of fun"! (Maxine Elliott, Medford, Oregon) |
Trip
Orientation
The evening before each trip Rogue River Raft Trips holds an
orientation for the upcoming trip. We ask that all participants attend. We will introduce
you to safety procedures, trip itinerary, packing and all details of the trip. It is also
the time for you to make the final decision of boat preference: paddle boat or oar
boat. It is important that you attend so that we will be able to accommodate your wishes
regarding your boat preference. The orientation will last about 3/4 of an hour and is held
at Morrison's Rogue River Lodge at 6:00 the night before each trip.
